Kristi Mears, Trainee x111
Marriage & Family Therapist Trainee

Often the miracle of healing comes through the process of navigating hurts and difficulties. There’s so much to be discovered about one’s self when we take the time to slow down and try to understand thoughts and feelings. My goal as an MFT trainee is to offer support and empathy as you journey on your path to find healing and wholeness.

Therapy
Mindfulness Therapy plays a big role in my approach. I believe that understanding and feeling understood is one of the most healing aspects to a broken heart.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is important in that it helps connect the dots to our actions, feelings, and thoughts. When we have understanding of what we are thinking, feeling, and experiencing, we can feel empowered to overcome obstacles.

If your life has been touched by the effects of a partner’s sexual addiction, I will work to establish a safe place for you while you sort through the impact that has had on your life. I also work with individuals, couples, and families.

Life Experience
After earning my Associates in Theology at Portland Bible College, I graduated with a Bachelor degree in Business Management and Organizational Leadership from George Fox University in Oregon. I am currently a Marriage and Family Therapist trainee (Supervised by Cory Anderson, LMFT #53391), graduating with a Masters in Psychology and Counseling from California Baptist University. I, along with my husband, have been ordained pastors, and have served churches in various capacities for most of my adult life, including the role of lead pastor, here in San Diego. One of my favorite verses is Psalms 34:18 says, “God is near the brokenhearted”. This offers the hope that we are never alone on our journey. My desire is to offer support, and partner with you as you discover what what lies ahead in the story of your life.
