Ryan Jackson, MFT Intern


Ryan Jackson recently completed his MS in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University. Ryan previously worked with high school students in full-time youth ministry for seven years, during which time he also coached high school volleyball for five years. Ryan and his wife have been married 4 years and have lived in San Diego for the past 3 years. Ryan is supervised by Kathryn de Bruin.

Counseling
Ryan works in the Mission Valley and Rancho Bernardo offices where he sees individuals and families and is most passionate about working with couples. Additionally, Ryan worked as a bereavement counselor at San Diego Hospice specializing in grief and loss. Ryan works primarily from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) perspective in which he focuses on providing safety for his clients to express and explore their unique therapeutic goals. Ryan is guided in his work by his theoretical orientation and his values of authenticity, community, and healing.

Education
Ryan received his BA in Psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University and his MS in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University. Ryan is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).

Speaking Topics
In Ryan's previous work in full-time youth ministry, speaking and teaching were one of his primary responsibilities. Ryan is open to speaking on a wide variety of topics to teenagers, young adults, and couples. Ryan prefers to take a conversational approach in his speaking in order to authentically connect.
